PASSAGEWAY ADDITION TO A LAKEHOUSE
This Wisconsin lake house, an AIA design award winning modern house designed by Nagle Hartray Architects, was starting to feel undersized for this growing multigenerational family. FDA designed a transparent passageway addition to connect the existing house to the guest suite (originally the garage) but which maintains views and access to the lake. The passageway floats above a stone stair to the lake and a terraced garden. On the lakeshore itself, FDA designed a modern boat house that emulates the character of the existing house (and replaces storage space taken over by the guest suite!). The new guest suite includes a kitchenette and an open living space that creates a private realm for guests but still allows for gathering on the lake or within the existing house.
